Hans Hartmann was born on December 10, 1913 in Villnachern , Switzerland. He started his career working in the advertising office of the Bally shoe factories at Schonenwerd from 1928 to 1930. in 1931, He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich for 4 years. In 1938, he opened his own studio in Berne and moved to Koniz in 1964. In 1964, he won the Philatex medal in Paris. The Swiss Federal Department of Interior gave him five award for his posters and three award for Swiss books competition.
