A.M Cassandre was born on 25 of January 1901, in Kharkov, Ukraine. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and at the Academie Julian in Paris. His posters were inspired by surrealism and cubism. The large image always become the focal point. He also created some typeface designs including Acier Noir, bifur, Peignot and Touraine ( with Charles Peignot).
I have been always admiring YSL’s logo. I think it’s one of most elegant logo that have ever created. The stroke of the letters make the personality of the logo even stronger.
In 1968, Cassandre committed suicide due to depression but his works always be remembered.

Great article again. Now I know why the former signature of PWC Price Waterhouse Coopers always looked so familiar to me, seems that they were inspired by YSL.
