“Design is directed toward human beings. To design is to solve human problems by identifying them and executing the best solution.”
Ivan Chermayeff was born in London England on June 6 1932. Chermayeff studied at Harvard University, then he moved to the Institute of Design (ID) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and finally, he moved to the Yale University – School of Design. He is a founding partner of Chermayeff & Geismar, a leading graphic design firm specializing in corporate identity, brand development and logo design. “The gifted eyes and self confident that make his work look so effortless and never labored, so varied its in range from hard-lined geometric logos to loose and child like illustration.” Henry Wolf
I wish Chermayeff to have a good health and his logos would still be as remarkable. It makes me very upset to see a great logo to be replaced with a bad logo. Now that NBC Universal has changed to a horrible logo, I hope the colorful peacock would still remain for the next 50 years or more. His logo designs are timeless yet elegant and most importantly, they are straight forward and relevant.
Happy birthday Ivan Chermayeff !!!
